The Gemini Piper was released in 2005 and at the time was the first machine to offer integrated Bluetooth connectivity as a standard feature. The Piper, for the first time in the Gemini family of products, introduced a more convenient and feature-rich product. The Piper contained Lithium Ion batteries and would run up to 20 hours on a single charge, along with having an integrated 5 LED battery gauge telling you how much power you had left. In addition to the Class 2 Bluetooth, the machine could still be connected via a serial cable and also was able to be connected to an HP IPAQ to provide up to four electronic backups. The Gemini Piper was made available in both a Captioner’s and a Court Reporter’s version, which gave it tremendous flexibility in terms of the customer base it could serve.

While a workhorse, the Piper was retired at the end of 2008 and replaced by the Revolution Grand family of products, which built upon the Piper concepts and foundation.
