Pain Relief |

25 years I have been a court reporter, and I have been mainly a CART provider/captioner for the last 10 years. A year ago, I thought my reporting career would be ending before I was ready to retire due to the pain I was experiencing in my forearms, shooting from my elbows to my wrists. That alone was alarming enough, but continuing to work “through” the pain also made it difficult if not impossible for me to do the hobbies that I love, golf and gardening. I was afraid that eking out a couple more years as a reporter may ruin my quality of life during my leisure time and on into retirement.
I had not considered the Gemini in the past because I was concerned about having a backup of my notes for those emergency situations. Even though my current software is excellent at backing up and recovery in the event of a freeze or crash, what if my entire computer died? I could not take that risk. When I found out that Gemini now had a note backup system, I decided it was time to explore this ergonomic machine. And since the notes are written to and stored on a Palm, I could have my entire phone book and calendar with me at jobs. |

Tough and loveable |
|
This machine was also accidentally jammed up under my desk a couple months ago and a few of the keys got mashed down. I panicked and just about started crying - my baby was hurt! Anyway, so my nephew came in with a screwdriver, popped the keys off, tweaked the little springs, popped the keys back on - and it was just like new! I was so amazed at the durability of this little machine! I love my Gemini! |

I have been reporting for over thirty years now. When I started in the field I was using a manual writer. Then along came the electric writer and I thought how great this was. It required less stroking movement. Then along came the New Millennium and I was introduced to the Gemini writer. The unique feature of the split keyboard was a wonderful invention. This has enabled me to tilt the keyboard in a position where my hands are completely relaxed and allows me to write all day in a busy Federal court and by the end of the day I feel as refreshed as when I started in the morning. Aside from the split keyboard, I find the touch of the keys are as light as a feather which enables me to write extremely comfortable. Also, being paperless there is no more messy ink to deal with. I couldn't imagine going back to any other machine. I'm sure once the message gets out there will be a mass of reporters switching over to the Gemini. Keep up the great work. |
